Mulch isn't just looks: it keeps soil moist, regulates root temperature, limits weeds and feeds the earth as it breaks down. We prep the bed (weeding, clean edge), lay landscape fabric if you want it, then spread quality mulch at the right depth — not too thin (useless), not too thick (smothers plants).

How thick should the mulch be?
2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm). Less, and weeds break through and the soil dries out; more, and you smother roots and water can't get through. We adjust around plants so crowns are never buried.
Do I need fabric under the mulch?
Not always. Fabric helps in a decorative bed with no dense planting, but it hurts in a living bed (it stops the mulch from feeding the soil). We advise based on your case.
How often should mulch be renewed?
Organic mulch breaks down: a refresh every year or two keeps the color and depth. We can include it in your seasonal maintenance.
